Testing the transmission fluid level via the ZF fill port showed it was running roughly\u00a01.2  liters \u00a0low due to a slow leak from the integrated plastic drain plug seal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the transmission oil filter is permanently built into the plastic pan assembly on the&nbsp;<strong>ZF 8HP70<\/strong>&nbsp;gearbox, the pan must be replaced entirely to preserve shifting integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Cure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Drained the remaining transmission fluid under strict environmental protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Removed the worn plastic oil pan and cleaned the magnetic debris catchers (which had collected only a healthy, minimal amount of fine wear metal).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installed a brand-new\u00a0<strong>ZF original oil pan<\/strong>\u00a0complete with a fresh integrated filter, sealing gasket, and high-tensile mounting bolts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refilled the transmission with fresh\u00a0<strong>ZF LifeGuard 8 fluid<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Executed the highly specific ZF temperature fill procedure, monitoring transmission temperatures via ISTA+ to ensure the fluid expanded correctly between\u00a0$30^\\circ\\text{C}$\u00a0and\u00a0$50^\\circ\\text{C}$\u00a0for an accurate final level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cleared transmission adaptation values and completed a dedicated road adaptation drive cycle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The &#8220;Hero&#8221; Factor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many dealerships claim the ZF automatic gearbox fluid is &#8220;lifetime fluid&#8221; and does not require servicing. At RTA, we know ZF recommends servicing this gearbox every\u00a080,000 KM to\u00a0120,000 KM.
